- Attack – The initial part of an ADSR envelope – modifies the amount of time for a sound to reach maximum amplitude. Fast attack sounds are plucky like a guitar, whilst slow attack sounds are on pads that fade in.
- Noise – irregular fluctuations that accompany a transmitted electrical signal but are not part of it and tend to obscure it
- groovebox – a self-contained electronic or digital musical instrument for the production of live, loop-based electronic music with a high degree of user control facilitating improvisation
